RE: Carbon Tax

Haven't you noticed with the extra cold winter we are having that it is no longer "global warming" but "global climate change"! Go figure!

RE: Flat screen monitor extended warranty offer...

One problem with warranties is who will repair the TV under warranty. Had a warranty issue with a TV which was less than one year old. Learned that there was only one repair facility in the entire Houston area that was authorized to do warranty work and it took forever to get it done. So, I would be very careful about extended warranties of this type. It may be very difficult or time consuming if you have to use it. As others have stated it may be more cost effective to just by a new TV after multiple years of use.

RE: HELP! Adding A Wireless Connection To The Stick House

I use either D-Link or Linksys routers and wireless cords; I believe that they are the best out there for the money.

RE: So why hasn't Diesel come down

I believe that home heating oil comes off the same feed stream as diesel. During the winter the refineries tweat their production to produce more home heating oil which means that less diesel is produced which usually translates into a higher price for diesel during the winter. As a consequence, diesel has not had quite the dramatic drop that has occurred with gasoline since the price has dropped mostly over the past 4 months when home heating oil supplies were being boosted. Nevertheless, as others have mentioned due to the requirements for ultra-low sulfur diesel and the added cost of making it, we will probably never see diesel prices cheaper than gasoline as occurred a few years back!

RE: Trader's Village RV Park Houston

I would consider that a safe area. As others have stated it is pretty crowded with some long term campers working construction work in the area and flea market vendors. I haven't drove through it, but know the area pretty well. It looks fine to me for what you want. The several other parks mentioned that are too far for me to drive to the NW side of Houston (Highway 6/1960. beltway 8 and 290 area).

RE: pet stains

We have successfully used Instant Carpet Stain Remover by Pet Sav'r available from Petsmart. It took several applications, but it removed a 3 month old throw-up stain that other carpet cleaners would not remove. Good stuff!!

RE: Crossing border with firearm

The courts should have made an example of this person to help discourage other undesirables doing the same thing. I didn't read the article, but probably the individual got what punishment he desired since he violated the law. However, classifying anyone who carries a weapon for protection as an "undesirable" is impuning the character of the hundreds of thousands of law abiding citizens that do.

RE: Implantable Electronic devices ( like Pacemaker)

I've had a Meditronic ICD (actually 3 different ones) for nearly 13 years. Call the manufacturer of the device. There should be someone in their technical department that can answer the questions you are posing. I've called and got some specific technical info from them that I would not have gotten from my doctor on do's and don't's such as strengths of magnetic fields to avoid. Regarding the airport scanners, I've gone thru them without setting some off, however, if I do set them off, I will not let them use a wand as it produces a concentrated and localized magnetic field. Then I ask them to give me a pat down. If you would like to discuss further send me a PM.

RE: Rest Areas in East Texas and Louisiana

There is a Louisiana welcome center and rest area just east a few miles across the Texas border on I-10 which is the way I assume you will travel. I do not know if they allow overnight parking though.

RE: Check Engine Light came on

I did some further checking on the internet. Apparently multiple problem lights and other symptoms such as the speedometer not working are not uncommon and can be caused by several different problems as others have alluded to. I really don't think that you will get much help from an Autozone or the like as probably the error code will show multiple possible causes, but it at least is worth a try. I would be very careful who I take my car to on this one. My suggestion is to deal with a very honest repair shop or a dodge dealer as I suspect that many of us could be ripped off by unscruptous repair people. I hate to have a dealership repair my car, but if it were me, I would probably take it to a Dodge dealer since they have a lot of experience in diagnosing and correcting such problems with their vehicles. Keep us posted on how this turns out. Good luck!

RE: Check Engine Light came on

I just had my speedometer quit working, ABS light came on and check brake light come on all at the same time right after I started my dodge truck up. After testing the brakes, I drove it a few miles, then turned the ignition off and then restarted the engine a few seconds later. The computer ran through the diagnostics check again and no trouble lights came on and the speedometer works-go figure. You didn't say when the check engine light came and speedometer quit working-were you driving? How many miles are on the vehicle? The check engine light will sometimes come on as someone else referred to when it is time to have the emissions system checked besides indicate a problem.

RE: Camping in Kirby (Houston)??

There's an RV park called Trader's Village RV Park on Eldridge about 3/10 of a mile south of highway 290 (northwest freeway.) You are about 11 miles from loop 610 going in toward town on 290. Here's the website: Trader's Village RV Park

RE: Cannot up date signature

What are you trying to update? The current error message is not very specific. So far, many of the errors have been caused by improper picture sizes. Correcting that has eliminated the error for most, but not all. I was trying to post a landscape jpg rig picture and the picture is 54 KB (500x100 pixel) size. Thanks.

I am having the exact same problem as several have stated. What is the latest on this issue? Thanks.

RE: superglide hitch

Looked at mine. It appears that the pin which goes thru the handle and the spring attaches to is smooth. My hitch is about 2 years old. I would put it in the grove, but you probably want to confirm that with Superglide.
